Who am I?

Photo of me

Jose D. Pague

I graduated in Fall 2022 from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, concentrating in Software Engineering. Since then, I've been expanding my knowledge and skillset through a Master's degree in Computer Engineering, with a focus on Embedded AI, FPGAs, and intelligent systems.

About Me

My passion and curiosity have led me to actively transition toward a fulfilling career in Embedded AI. I hold a degree in Computer Science from UTSA and bring experience in a wide range of programming languages and technologies, including Java, C, JavaScript, Python, PHP, SQL, and more. While my foundation began in full-stack and software development, my growing interest lies at the intersection of hardware, software, and intelligent systems.

Currently, I'm deepening my knowledge in embedded systems, AI/ML, FPGAs, and signal processing, and I'm excited about building smart, real-world solutions that make an impact on people's lives and contribute to a better society.

This About Me page will continue to improve as I do.

Projects

Project 1

Senior Design 1: Sponsored by DOD
Developed an interactive map of major U.S. power grids with # of markers displaying information on energy transfer, production, and demand. The markers dynamically display data from a database, and on/off status affects overall energy output displayed in a summary column. Users can change the status of a marker by clicking on it and updating data in real time. The markers are color-coded to indicate percentage output and provide a visual indication of status. Further enhanced the user experience by enabling hovering over nodes to display relevant data. Implemented a button in the right column of a webpage that resets data in a data table, restoring the map to its default setting.
Tools, APIS's, Languages, and Frameworks included OpenStreetMap, Leaflet, AWS EC2, Ajax, PHP 8.1.2, Vanilla JS, HTML5, CSS, Bootstrap 5, Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, NGINX, SQL, MYSQL, phpMyAdmin, and Dreamweaver

Project 2

Enterprise Software Engineering:
Created in Fall 2022. Individual assignment. Configured an AWS EC2 Server and configuring an SSL, and .KEY&.PEM file. Developed and managed PHP files to request, organize, and access data from complex "black box" with unique sessions, multiple files, and occasional data corruption, using data salting and error/access logs for efficient debugging and optimal performance. Organized data into a designed database to facilitate easy access and management. Developed a cronjob to request data at select times per day for 16 days, and a report, analyzing data retrieved
Tools, Libraries, and Frameworks include cronjob, AWS EC2, Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS, NGINX, Dreamweaver, PHP 8.1.2, SQL, MYSQL, and phpMyAdmin

Project 3

Hotel-Management-App:
Manage/assist employee and customer needs for a chain of 10 hotels, with flexibility to adjust hotel/room size. Directed a team of 5 in designing and developing a dynamic hotel reservation system, overseeing creation of a login system and reservation system for employee and customer use with different privileges, features for searching, creating, updating, and deleting reservations with weekly price changes.
Tools, Libraries and Frameworks include Java,
AWS EC2, SDKs, JavaFX, SQL, MYSQL, phpMyAdmin, and VSCode

Project 4

Rowdy-Eats:
Created in 2020. In a Team of 5. Rowdy-Eats is a program that allows the user to select a recipe that contains the ingredients list and nutritional aspect of that recipe. The user will be able to favorite, create, and retrieve a randomized recipe for the user by clicking on the selected button on the main menu. Eclipse was mainly used for creating this project alongside GitHub.

This Portfolio:
Created from Scratch outside of class in Fall 2022, using a Raspberry Pi 4, NGINX, Bootstrap 5, SSL configuration (.KEY & .PEM files), CloudFlare, JavaScript, PHP (soon to be needed), HTML5, CSS, VSCode, LiveServer, and additional software for security reasons. The website portfolio is an ongoing project, and I will continue to update it as I gain more skills and experience.
